Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and is situated on Vancouver Island - easily reachable via ferry from Vancouver (city) on mainland Canada. With a mild temperate climate and rugged outdoors - it's a great destination for the active traveler!
The Empress Hotel on Victoria's waterfront - famous for very elegant afternoon tea.
Water taxis and seaplanes abound in Victoria's harbor.
About 1/2 way up the island on the west side is the little town of Tofino - great beaches (surfing), and location for ocean trips e.g. whale watching.
The area is teaming with grey whales, seals, bald eagles...and you may even see a rare sunfish!
If you get to Tofino - take a boat ride to remote Hot Springs Cove for a hot plunge in the natural springs on the rocky shore line (get there by boat then hike on a boardwalk through the lush unspoiled forest).
China Beach is another secluded pristine site worth visiting.
Spend a relaxing afternoon at The Butchart Gardens surrounded by nature's colorful splendor.
..and who can forget the cutest sea otters.
